The Epiphany of the Lord

Christmas and New Years' celebrations have come and gone... and now the feast of the epiphany approaches the forefront of the Christmas season... read something I thought was apt for this time of the year. Enjoy!

Have you had an "epiphany" - an "aha!" moment - during this Christmas season? Maybe the light of Christ's love warmed your heart toward a person or a group of people. Maybe Christ's light revealed to you something about your life that needs change. Maybe Christ's light shone in some dark corner of your world and gave you hope. If so, you have some understanding of today's feast.

Throughout the advent and Christmas seasons we have been celebrating he oh-so-gradual dawning of Christ's light - a dawn whose light has come, but has yet to fill every nook and cranny of darkness in our world. While the feast of the Nativity focused on the human birth of Jesus as the Messiah of the Jews, Epiphany focuses on the revelation/manifestation (in Greek, epiphaneia) that Jesus's light has dawned for all people. No one is outside the reach of Jesus's saving love. Aha!
